Eliminating Violence Against Women

The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, is a global call to end all forms of violence directed at women and girls. This day highlights the urgent need to protect women from physical, emotional, sexual, economic, and psychological abuse both in public and private spaces.

Today we are reminded that violence against women is not just a personal issue but a major human rights violation that affects families, communities, and nations. Around the world, millions of women face harmful practices, domestic abuse, harassment, exploitation, and gender-based violence. Many suffer in silence due to fear, stigmatization , discrimination, or lack of supportive systems

Governments, communities, and individuals all have a role to play. Governments are encouraged to strengthen legal frameworks, invest in shelters and support services, and ensure justice is accessible to everyone going through any form of abuse. Communities must break the culture of silence, challenge harmful norms, educate children on respect and equality, and support survivors with empathy and care.

Ultimately, November 25th is more than a date, it is a reminder that violence against women is preventable, and that together, we can build a world where every woman lives free from fear and full of dignity. Every individual can create change by speaking up, offering support, and promoting environments where women feel safe and valued.
