OACF Brings Joy To 300 Indigent Children In Umunneochi Through Creative Funfair
Vigreat International School, located at No. 2 Ahia Ututu Market Road, Eziama Nneato in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State, came alive recently as over 300 indigent children gathered for a special event organised by the Oluebube A. Chukwu Foundation (OACF). The programme, held under the theme of fun and creativity, was designed to uplift the spirits of disadvantaged children in the community.
The purpose of the event was to create a joyful and inclusive space where children could engage in exciting, educative, and therapeutic activities. According to the organisers, the initiative aimed to spark creativity and imagination in the young participants through a variety of art, craft, and game sessions tailored to promote both physical and mental well-being.
Led by the Programme Manager, Mrs. Helen Mannic, the OACF team ensured that every aspect of the programme was carefully structured to leave a lasting impact on the children. Volunteers from across the LGA supported the effort, ensuring smooth coordination and maximum engagement from the children.
Highlights of the day included a Spelling Bee, a Quiz Competition, and pep talks focused on critical issues such as drug abuse and personal hygiene. These activities were complemented by a wide array of exciting games designed to foster teamwork, build confidence, and develop essential life skills.
The atmosphere was filled with laughter and energy as the children participated enthusiastically in each segment of the programme. Their joy was palpable as they received beautiful party packs filled with assorted souvenirs, ranging from puzzle games and diaries to educational materials like Longman English Dictionaries and mathematical sets.
In her remarks, Mrs. Mannic expressed gratitude to the sponsors and volunteers who made the event possible, emphasizing the Foundation's ongoing commitment to child development and education in underserved communities. “Our goal is to plant seeds of hope and inspiration in every child we meet,” she said.
The event concluded with heartfelt songs and dances by the children, many of whom expressed their happiness and appreciation. For the people of Umunneochi, the initiative stood as a reminder that every child deserves joy, opportunity, and the chance to dream regardless of their circumstances.
