OACF Mobilises 187 Volunteers For Monthly Sanitation Exercise Across Five Abia North LGAs
The Oluebube A. Chukwu Foundation (OACF) has intensified its commitment to environmental sustainability by mobilising 187 volunteers and community members for its monthly sanitation exercise across five Local Government Areas in Abia North.
The exercise, held simultaneously on Saturday, July 25, 2026, covered Bende, Isuikwuato, Arochukwu, Ohafia and Umunneochi LGAs, with participants cleaning markets, schools, community centres, village squares and public roads as part of efforts to promote a cleaner and healthier environment.
Speaking through coordinators across the various LGAs, participants commended the Founder of the Foundation, Dr. Oluebube A. Chukwu, for sustaining the monthly initiative, describing it as a practical demonstration of his commitment to community development and public health.
In Bende LGA, nine volunteers carried out the sanitation exercise at Ibinaukwu Hall, Onu Ibinaukwu, Igbere Ward A, under the supervision of LGA Coordinator, Hon. Nwagbara Godswill Evans, and Ward Coordinator, Hon. Kennedy Igwe.
At Isuikwuato LGA, 30 volunteers cleaned Uturu Primary School, Mvurunvu and Umumara communities in Uturu. The exercise was coordinated by the LGA Manager, Mr. Anyachi Ndubuisi, alongside Ward Coordinator, Mrs. Ikpeoha Mary, who noted that the initiative continues to make a positive impact on the community.
In Arochukwu LGA, 32 participants participated in the sanitation exercise at Afor Market Square, Achara, in Mbala/Achara Ward, Zone 2. The exercise was coordinated by Mr. Ogbonna Sunday with support from the Zonal Coordinator, Mr. Silas.
The highest turnout was recorded in Ohafia LGA, where 68 residents joined the clean-up exercise at Mgbaga Community in Ebem Oha Ward. The sanitation covered the Village Square and Toilet Facility Road and was led by Ward Coordinator, Mr. Chukwuma Uguru. The Ohafia LGA Manager, Comrade Best Nwoke, praised the Foundation for its continued investment in community welfare.
In Umunneochi LGA, 48 participants carried out sanitation activities at the Village Market in Amoba, Aro Ward 2. The exercise was coordinated by Mr. Chinomso Kalu with the support of the LGA Manager, Mr. Enyinnaya Uyor.
Altogether, the exercise attracted 187 participants, underscoring the growing acceptance of the Foundation's environmental campaign and the increasing willingness of residents to take collective responsibility for keeping their communities clean.
The Oluebube A. Chukwu Foundation said it remains committed to promoting environmental responsibility, healthy living and sustainable community development through its monthly sanitation programme and other people-oriented interventions across Abia State.
