OACF Strengthens Grassroots Structure Through Ward-Level Engagements Across Abia
The Oluebube A. Chukwu Foundation (OACF) has intensified its grassroots engagement across Abia State, with a series of ward-level meetings and sensitisation activities aimed at strengthening its community development structure.
The engagements, coordinated by the Foundation’s Local Government Area Managers, brought together Ward Managers and Coordinators across Umunneochi, Bende, Ohafia, Isuikwuato and Ikwuano Local Government Areas.
The meetings focused on deepening the understanding of the Foundation’s mission, vision and objectives, while improving communication, coordination and community mobilisation at the grassroots.
In Umunneochi Local Government Area, the LGA Manager, Comrade Uwey Onyemachi, led an engagement in Zone 1, Ngodo, covering Obinolu/Obiagu/Lomara Ward.
The meeting, coordinated with Ward Manager Hope Ekemere and his Vice, Ifeanyi Egbuede, also had members of the grassroots team in attendance, including Michael Matthew, Onyedikachi Mike, Uchenna Okoronkwo, Christian Umeh, Uchenna Matthew and Nnamdi Ajala.
Discussions centred on effective coordination, communication and mobilisation of community members towards achieving the Foundation’s objectives.
In Bende LGA, the LGA Manager, Comrade Godswill Evans, also engaged Ward Coordinators, including Hon. Ikedieze Enyinnaya Promise of Uzuakoli Ward and Hon. Okey Okorie of Umuhu Ezechi Ward.
The engagement examined ways of strengthening OACF’s grassroots network and ensuring that its programmes and activities are properly communicated and effectively implemented at ward level.
Similarly, in Ohafia LGA, LGA Manager Comrade Best Nwoke Okorie led an engagement at Etitiama, Nkporo, involving Ward Managers Kalu Egwu Ude of Etiti Ward, Uka Okocha Ebere of Nde Elu Ward and Orji Agwu Agwu of Nde Agbor Ward.
The participants expressed their commitment to advancing the Foundation’s objectives within their respective communities and strengthening collaboration between OACF and residents at the grassroots.
In Isuikwuato LGA, LGA Manager Comrade Anyachi Ndubuisi, alongside Ward Managers Ike Kelechi of Ward 6 and Onwuka Gideon Ikechukwu of Ward 3, paid a familiarisation visit to Rev. Amos Antoka, Supervisor of The Wanted Children Foundation in Eluama.
During the visit, the team introduced OACF, explained its mandate and community development focus, and discussed possible areas of collaboration with the organisation, which supports orphans and vulnerable children.
The grassroots engagement also extended to Ikwuano LGA, where the LGA Manager, Lady Akudo Joy Peter, led a stakeholders’ meeting in Ndoro, Oboro Ward 3.
The meeting brought together Ward Managers to discuss strategies for expanding OACF’s programmes and presence across more communities in Ikwuano.
Among those who participated were Chimaobi Onyejiuwa, Manager of Oboro Ward 1; Chinedu Osondu, Manager of Oboro Ward 3; and Nwachukwu Joab, Manager of Oloko Ward 2.
Across the different engagements, emphasis was placed on the importance of a strong grassroots structure in delivering meaningful and sustainable community impact.
The Foundation views its Ward Managers as a critical link between OACF and the communities, providing a channel through which community needs, feedback, opportunities and programme activities can move effectively between the grassroots and the Foundation’s management.
The latest engagements also highlight OACF’s approach of combining structured grassroots coordination with community participation and partnerships in pursuing its development objectives.
The Foundation commended its LGA and Ward Managers for their commitment, teamwork and willingness to strengthen community participation.
