OACF Takes Monthly Sanitation Exercise Across Six LGAs, Mobilises 216 Participants

The Oluebube A. Chukwu Foundation (OACF) has once again demonstrated its commitment to promoting environmental cleanliness and healthy communities as it successfully conducted its monthly sanitation exercise across six Local Government Areas of Abia State on Saturday, August 29, 2026.


The exercise, which brought together a total of 216 participants, was carried out simultaneously across selected communities and public facilities in Arochukwu, Ikwuano, Umunneochi, Bende, Ohafia and Isuikwuato Local Government Areas.


In Ikwuano LGA, OACF volunteers carried out a clean-up exercise at a two-toilet facility situated at Ama Ndoro Hall in Ndoro, Oboro Ward 3. Six participants took part in the exercise under the coordination of Lady Akudo Peter, the LGA Manager. The activity focused particularly on improving the cleanliness and hygiene of the toilet facilities for community use.


In Arochukwu LGA, the sanitation exercise took place at Amuvi Market in Aro Ward 3, with 42 people participating. The activity was coordinated by Nwankwo Orji, the Ward Coordinator, under the leadership of Enyinnaya Uyor, the LGA Manager.


The exercise also took place in Umunneochi LGA, where volunteers and community members gathered at Nkwo Market Square, Lokpa, in Lokpanta Ward Zone 4. A total of 35 participants took part in the exercise, coordinated by Ogu Chinaza Gloria, Ward Coordinator, with the support of Mr. David, the Zonal Coordinator.


In Bende LGA, the OACF sanitation exercise was conducted at Amaugbagha Amaokwe Item Hall in Item Ward A. The activity, which attracted 38 participants, was carried out under the supervision of Hon. Agwu Ofobuike, Ward Manager, and Mr. Evans Godswill, LGA Manager.


Ohafia LGA recorded one of the highest turnouts, with 51 participants taking part in the sanitation exercise at Obilibo Road, Amafia Okon, Okon Community, Okamu Ward. The exercise was led by Comrade Best Nwoke, the LGA Manager, with support from Mr. Chukwuma Uguru, Ebemoha Ward Coordinator, who was present to support the activity.


Meanwhile, in Isuikwuato LGA, the sanitation exercise took place at Orie Ahaba in Imenyi Ward 1, attracting 44 participants. The exercise was coordinated by Ndubuisi Anyachi, the LGA Manager.

Speaking through its continued community engagement activities, OACF emphasised that the monthly sanitation exercise goes beyond cleaning physical spaces, as it is also designed to encourage community ownership, volunteerism and collective responsibility for a cleaner and healthier environment.


The Foundation expressed appreciation to all its LGA Managers, Ward Coordinators, Zonal Coordinators, volunteers and community members who participated in the exercise and contributed to its success.


With 216 people participating across six LGAs, the August 29 sanitation exercise further reinforces the Foundation’s commitment to its vision of “Building a Better Tomorrow” through initiatives that promote healthier, cleaner and more sustainable communities.
