The Oluebube A. Chukwu Foundation Leads Market Clean-Up In Nneato

The Oluebube A. Chukwu Foundation, Nneato Zone, carried out a successful environmental clean-up exercise on Saturday, 28 June 2025, at the Eke Nneato Market in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State.

Volunteers drawn from various communities in the zone participated in the exercise, which aimed to promote hygiene, environmental awareness, and public health within the market and its surrounding areas. The initiative was widely applauded by traders and residents for its impact and coordination.

Organisers from the foundation said the clean-up was part of a broader campaign to instill a culture of cleanliness and community responsibility. They expressed satisfaction with the turnout and the level of engagement shown by the local population.

Speaking during the event, the Nneato Zonal Coordinator of the Foundation, Mr Micheal Ador noted that the market, being a major hub of economic activity in the area, required regular sanitation efforts to ensure the well-being of both traders and customers. They stressed that the exercise was not just a one-off activity but part of an ongoing programme to support community development.

Many market traders expressed appreciation to the Oluebube A. Chukwu Foundation for the initiative, describing it as timely and necessary. Some recalled previous efforts by the foundation to support health and youth development, stating that this latest intervention was in line with its consistent outreach.

The event also served as an opportunity to engage residents on the importance of waste disposal, personal hygiene, and collective responsibility in maintaining a clean environment. Informational materials were shared, and waste bins were strategically placed around the market to encourage continued sanitation.

With the success of the clean-up exercise, the foundation reaffirmed its commitment to community service and announced plans to replicate similar initiatives across other parts of Umunneochi in the coming months.
