The Oluebube A. Chukwu Foundation Leads Market Sanitation Drive In Umunneochi

On Saturday, May 31, 2025, members of The Oluebube A. Chukwu Foundation, Zone 1 Chapter carried out a successful environmental sanitation exercise at Eke Ndiawa Market in Umuelem Isuochi, Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State. The exercise, which drew more than 48 dedicated volunteers from various parts of Zone 1, was part of the foundation’s monthly cleanup initiative aimed at improving public hygiene.

The effort, according to the organizers, was in support of Governor Alex Otti’s broader environmental and public health agenda for Abia State. The market cleanup was carried out thoroughly, with participants clearing waste, sweeping market stalls, and sensitizing traders on the importance of maintaining a clean environment.

Coordinator of the Zone 1 Chapter, Hon. Samuel Obiesie, commended the selfless spirit of the volunteers who turned out for the event. He expressed deep appreciation for their unwavering commitment. Obiesie emphasized that the cleaning exercise was not only about sanitation but also a demonstration of civic responsibility and solidarity with the development efforts of the Abia State government. He noted that Governor Alex Otti’s strides in infrastructure, security, and social services continue to inspire grassroots action across the state.

“We are proud to be part of this vision of a cleaner, healthier Abia,” Obiesie said. “Among other programmes of The Oluebube A. Chukwu Foundation, this sanitation initiative aligns perfectly with the governor’s public sanitation priorities, and we are committed to doing our part, especially here in Umunneochi.”

Participants received words of encouragement and goodwill from various community leaders, including Mr. Onyeje Godswill Ikechukwu, popularly known as Mr. BushTv, whose support was instrumental in mobilizing residents for the exercise.

Chief Darlington Ohia, a respected community leader, also spoke at the event. He praised the foundation’s sustained commitment to grassroots development and urged other well-meaning citizens to emulate Dr. Chukwu’s example. “What we are witnessing today is more than just a cleanup it is a renewal of communal values and a reflection of true leadership at the grassroots,” he said.

Many community members expressed satisfaction with the foundation’s work and pledged to maintain the cleanliness of the market.

The Oluebube A. Chukwu Foundation has consistently championed grassroots development through health outreach, education support, and environmental advocacy. Saturday’s event reinforces the foundation’s mission of building stronger, healthier communities from the ground up.

The Foundation, in a statement, thanked all who participated in the exercise and reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the monthly sanitation campaign across Umunneochi and beyond.
