Oluebube A. Chukwu Foundation (OACF) : Conducts Back-to-School Outreach To Three Rural Schools
On September 26, 2024, the Oluebube A. Chukwu Foundation (OACF) embarked on a
back-to-school outreach to three rural schools in Umunneochi Local Government Area,
Abia State. This initiative, led by the Foundation’s Operations Officer, Emenike Joseph,
and Communications Officer, Stacy Okoye, was designed to support students in these
underserved communities with essential educational materials and hygiene supplies as
they began their new academic year.
The outreach targeted three schools:
1. Leru Secondary School
2. Mbala Community Secondary School
3. Ezingodo Community Primary School
Recognizing the need for school supplies in these communities, the Foundation
provided a variety of items to aid the students in their studies. Each school received 200
pieces of key back-to-school items, which included:
• 200notebooks
• 200pencils
• 200pens
• 200erasers
• 200sharpeners
• 200rulers
In addition to the school supplies, the Foundation also contributed to improving hygiene
within the schools by donating tissue paper. A total of 20 bags of tissue rolls, with 12
rolls per bag, were distributed across the three schools. This amounted to 240 rolls of
tissue, further demonstrating the Foundation’s holistic approach to the students’ welfare,
combining educational tools with hygiene products.
In total, the Foundation distributed over 3,840 items across the three schools,
comprising notebooks, writing materials, and tissue rolls. This effort was not only aimed
at easing the financial burden on students’ families but also at promoting a better
learning environment for the children.
The reception at each school was overwhelmingly positive. Students, teachers, and
school administrators expressed deep gratitude for the supplies. However, beyond the
provision of materials, it became clear during the visit that the schools face significant
infrastructural challenges. The school buildings were in a state of disrepair, with
crumbling structures, insufficient chairs, and a shortage of instructional materials.
The school authorities, alongside community leaders, appealed to the Foundation for
additional support in addressing these issues. They requested assistance in renovating
their school buildings, providing more chairs for the students, and supplying other
educational resources critical for effective learning. The representatives of the three
communities– Elder S. O. Oguama, Elder Architect Victor Peter Ogbukwe JP, and Hon.
Sam Obesiye– were present during the outreach and welcomed the Foundation with
great warmth. They echoed the schools’ concerns and expressed their hope that the
partnership with OACF would grow, allowing for future initiatives to address these
infrastructural needs.
The success of this outreach is a testament to the vision and leadership of the
Foundation’s founder, Dr. Oluebube A. Chukwu. Under his guidance, the Foundation
remains committed to giving back to society, particularly to rural and underserved
communities. This back-to-school outreach is just one of the many ways OACF is
making a tangible impact on the lives of young people, ensuring they have the tools and
support they need to succeed academically.
As we look forward to addressing the infrastructural challenges faced by these schools,
we encourage individuals, organizations, and all those passionate about education to
join us in making a difference. If you would like to partner with us in this endeavor or
