26 Members Of Oluebube A. Chukwu Foundation (OACF) Received ICT Enhancement Equipments
1000 Abians in which 26 members of Oluebube A.Chukwu Foundation, on Thursday January 11, 2024 benefited from World Bank assisted Government Enterprise Employment Programme (GEEP) and Nigeria Covid-19 Action Recovery And Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) World Bank assisted Programme.
Flagging- off the second batch of Empowerment programme under NG- CARES, DLI 3.3 Programme Implementation, Distribution of its tool/ICT Solutions to beneficiaries of its Enhancement, World Bank assisted Programme, in collaboration with Abia state Government,at the premises of the Ministry of Agriculture Umuahia, Governor Alex Otti, thanked the World Bank for partnering with the state to empower Abia citizens who are into Small and Medium enterprises.
Governor Otti, who was represented at the flag-off ceremony by the State Commissioner for Small and Medium Enterprises and Digital Economy,Dr. Matthew .C. Ekwuribe, advised the lucky benefiaries to make the best use of the ICT equipment given to them free of charge to improve their businesses.
According to the governor,"This things are giving to you free of charge, you people applied using a link and your success to benefit from the empowerment programme is not based on who you know.
" We are going to launch a website where Abians will exibit of Abia youth their goods and introduce more capacity building programmes for our citizens," Gov.Otti promised.
He said that most youths are educated, but are not employable,"We are going to train them in ICT and make them employable, we are going to convert our youths from job seekers to Job employers," Governor Otti assured.
Earlier in his speech the state coordinator GEEP and NG-CARES, World Bank assisted Programme,Mr.Aliche Chukwudi Kalu, said that the programme was put in place to help cushion the effect the Covid-19 had on businesses, as the programme will help in stimulating the ecosystem once again.
He said that a monitoring team is put in place to ensure that beneficiaries make use of the ICT equipments and other tools given to them to improve their businesses.
The event was attended by government functionaries, including the Hon. Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Hon. Ananaba Nwobilor, while the highpoint of the occasion was the formal handover of some of the Items ranging from computer labtops, POS machines, solar panels and Inverter, Smart phone, power banks, mobile printers and other ICT equipments.
