On July 6th, 2024, the Oluebube A Chukwu Foundation (OACF) marked the 2024 United Nations Day Against Illicit Trafficking and Drug Abuse with a grassroots initiative
held at Umunneochi Local Government Area in Abia State. The event aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and reinforce the importance of prevention.
The program began with an opening prayer, followed by the traditional breaking of kola nut, a cultural gesture symbolizing welcome and unity. The keynote address was
delivered by Stacy Okoye, the Communications Officer of OACF, who emphasized the foundation’s commitment to combating drug abuse through community-based initiatives.
The first speaker, the Deputy Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), highlighted the severe dangers associated with drug abuse. Her
presentation provided valuable insights into the various ways drugs can be abused and stressed the urgent need for preventive measures.
Following this, the Health Authority Secretary engaged the audience in an interactive session, breaking down the health implications of drug abuse. Her session fostered a
deeper understanding of the physical and mental health risks associated with drug use.
The audience, comprised of community members and local leaders, responded positively to the presentations. Many expressed gratitude to the Oluebube A Chukwu
Foundation for bringing such vital awareness to their community. The audience's receptiveness and active participation underscored the event's success in achieving its goals.
In his closing remarks, Chief Darlington Ohia applauded OACF for bringing this awareness to the community and encouraged the audience members to implement the knowledge they had gained in their lives.
The Oluebube A Chukwu Foundation remains committed to its mission of promoting health, education, and social welfare. By bringing this important awareness program to the grassroots, the foundation has taken a significant step toward creating a drug-free future for all.
